Saistītā informācija
This Saturday and Sunday, on the 14th and 15th of March the third stage of Latvian championships in cross country skiing will take place in well known Madonas skiing and biathlon track „Smeceres sils”, which is organised by Latvian Skiing Association. Second year in a row Latvian championships stage in Madona will be as FIS race.
On Saturday best relay teams will be decided, but on Sunday cross country skier will compete in the middle distances in free technique with mass start.
Exactly one month after the second stage in Vietalva, where besides local skiers also participants from Canada and Estonia took part, on this weekend the last third stage of national championships will take place in Madona, which is well known for hosting the Scandinavian cup last five years. Last year in January two days FIS sprint competitions in both skiing techniques were organised there, but this year relay and middle length distance in free technique with mass start.
Relay will consist of three legs and all three will be in free technique. Initially planned long distances on the second day in classical style will be reduced to middle length distances – 15km for ladies and 20km for men, and skiing technique is switched to free style. Those changes were made because of the snow amount and conditions, because, taking into consideration the snow amount on the course, it was possible to prepare in good conditions no longer than 2km lap. Organizers welcomes athletes from other countries and wishes good luck to everyone.
